About The Position

This position involves working with middle school students to develop essential communication and literature skills, including listening, thinking, speaking, reading, and writing. The goal is to motivate students to read widely for both information and recreation, develop critical judgment of mass media communications, and discover and develop special talents in the field of Language Arts.

Requirements

State of Michigan Teacher Certification required
BA or BX endorsement required

Responsibilities

Successfully educate students on ELA state and district standards.
Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned with the district-provided curriculum.
Implement strategies to enhance listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
Assess students' proficiency levels and adapt instruction accordingly.
Select books and instructional aids appropriate to the interest and maturity level of students, maintain required inventory records.
Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
Foster respect and understanding among students of all backgrounds.
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as needed.
Administer assessments to measure students' proficiency and track their progress over time.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.
Establish and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
Develop standards for critical analysis through group discussions based on a variety of mass media and classical and contemporary literature.
Consistent and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
