This role involves teaching English Language Arts to Grade 5 students. The position requires the teacher to accurately demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy, understand students' individual development, special needs, skills, and knowledge. The teacher will select and use appropriate resources, adhere to Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 plans, and design coherent lessons, activities, and assessments that align with learning standards. A key aspect of this role is creating a positive and respectful learning environment, establishing effective classroom procedures, managing student behavior, and communicating effectively with students. The teacher will also confer with parents, guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to address student issues, exhibit high expectations, and deliver lessons effectively. This includes employing effective questioning and discussion techniques, providing timely and constructive feedback, utilizing assessments during instruction, and demonstrating flexibility in response to student learning. Reflection on teaching practices and making adjustments for student understanding and achievement are also crucial. The role requires maintaining accurate records, managing classroom equipment and supplies, and communicating effectively with families about student progress. Additionally, the teacher is expected to participate in and contribute to the professional community, engage in continuous professional growth, and exhibit professionalism in interactions with students, staff, and parents. The position also involves reporting suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse, enforcing school policies, attending professional development, assisting with student supervision in various school settings, sponsoring extracurricular activities, and performing other assigned duties.
