ESL Instructor - Accelerated English language Program (AELP)
About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-3 (Employee Group) for an ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) INSTRUCTOR for the Accelerated English Language Program (AELP) within the ESL SERVICES department. The position is part-time, running from June 29 to August 21, 2026. The instructor will teach five (5) hours per day for the length of the program. The delivery method for this course will be online, requiring the instructor to deliver online synchronous instruction and manage asynchronous work. Flexibility around asynchronous class delivery may be necessary depending on students’ locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree
- TESL Certificate with a supervised practicum
- Master’s level qualifications in related areas – e.g. Applied Linguistics, English, Languages – shall also be taken into account
- Post-secondary teaching experience, especially in ESL/EFL, and particularly overseas, is very desirable.

Responsibilities
- Instructors teaching the Accelerated Program teach five (5) hours per day for the length of the program.
- Instructors are responsible for the preparation of weekly lesson plans, tests, quizzes and assignments for their courses.
- They are also responsible for the marking and evaluation of in-class work and record keeping.
- Deliver online synchronous instruction.
- Assign and manage asynchronous work to students.
