About The Position

Sacred Heart University's College of Arts & Sciences Department of English is seeking adjunct faculty to teach core program courses in English and First Year Writing. These courses include Experiencing Literature, the foundational core program course in literature, and the First Year Writing Seminar, the core program in writing for freshmen. The English and Writing faculty are committed to developing students' oral and written communication skills and literary competency, sharing a passion for the written and spoken word while preparing students for professional life. The department aims to align its curriculum with the University's mission, foster vigorous faculty development, stay current in the discipline, promote mutual respect and cooperation, and focus on each student as a unique individual.

Requirements

• MA, MFA, or PhD.
• Excellent teaching skills and references.
• Ability to work outside of one's area of specialization.
• Teaching service courses, including our First Year Seminar (FYWS) and our foundational core course, "Experiencing Literature" (ENG 201).

Responsibilities

• Teaching Experiencing Literature (the foundational core program course in literature).
• Teaching the First Year Writing Seminar (the core program in writing for freshman).
