About The Position

This position is in the Triad Asset Design Group, responsible for designing and overseeing Substation Optimization Projects and Large Customer Work. The role requires field visits to review and discuss scope of work with engineering firms and contractor managers. It involves collaboration with various teams including Off Site Engineering Firms, Contractor Managers, Project Managers, Project Controls, Asset Management Team, Zone Engineering, R&I Engineers, and Line workers. The position also supports storm response in the Triad Area and may require travel to other Duke Energy locations. The Engineering Technologist III is the third level, providing technical expertise for complex problems and leadership for work oversight with limited supervision. The Senior Engineering Technologist is the fourth level, considered the career level, offering technical expertise for complex problems and leadership for work management with minimal supervision. Incumbents at both levels are expected to develop advanced skills and work with a high degree of independence.

Requirements

  • Engineering Tech III: Either 2+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years equivalent experience without a degree.
  • Senior Engineering Tech: Either 4+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years equivalent experience without a degree.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Responsibilities
