BAE Systems is seeking an Engineering Technologist I to join the Engineering Support Services (ESS) project, providing critical systems engineering, integration, and testing support for the United States Navy's AEGIS Weapon System. The candidate will join the Test and Evaluation Task to support a diverse team of engineers, technologists, and veterans working to perfect a complex computer system vital to the Navy and their partners. This position will be located in Mount Laurel, NJ. The candidate's primary role will involve supporting the TECHREP customer in various technical aspects involving the integration of the AEGIS Weapon System with Ballistic Missile Defense functionality in an AEGIS Combat System environment. This will include customer support with test program implementation, execution, analysis, and reporting in support of government computer program certification decisions. The selected candidate will be expected to apply knowledge of the AEGIS Weapon System & the integrated Ballistic Missile Defense capabilities in a test program designed to verify government acceptance requirements were met by the system developer. The candidate must be able to interpret AEGIS system level specifications into testable requirements at the routine level, develop the test approach and detailed procedures to test those requirements, validate the detailed test methods, execute the formal test, and collect relevant test data. Post-test, the candidate must analyze the collected data and report on the findings. Secondary roles include reviewing technical specifications and related documents for accuracy and applicability, witnessing and assessing tests conducted by the program developer and/or other Government agencies. The candidate will be expected to maintain existing expertise and quickly develop additional Subject Matter Expertise in assigned technical areas to assist management in maintaining a fully matrixed and integrated test team. The candidate must possess excellent oral and written skills and be able to work independently when required. Generally, work hours are standard, but some second and/or third shift hours will be required. Little or no travel is expected, but willingness to travel in support of emergent customer needs is required. One or more of the following abilities will be considered central to the position: US Navy / AEGIS experience, perform and/or witness system level integration of computer programs, collection of relevant data, analysis of test results, documentation of equipment failures, tracking of problem resolutions, and reporting on findings. The position may occasionally involve travel to external test sites and might include off hours testing dictated by external factors governing equipment availability.
