  • Proven experience using Creo 3D CAD software and checking Creo models and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD) and PDMLink PLM.
  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis software, and performing tolerance and stack-up analyses.
  • Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, inspection, assembly, and testing.
  • Experience evaluating designs for form, fit, function, and producibility.
  • Ability to identify engineering defects and recommend design improvements.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14 standards, particularly Y14.5-2009 and Y14.41.
  • Experience developing and interpreting 3D CAD models and associated design standards.
  • Experience with weapon-system configuration management workflows.
  • Understanding of design practices and procedures used to communicate design intent across National Security Enterprise organizations.
  • Experience managing multiple technical assignments for different customers.
  • Experience leading design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing reviews.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish cooperative working relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing mechanical drafting and design work in both weapons and non-weapons applications.
  • Experience developing and implementing organizational design and/or drafting standards.
  • Previous model and drawing checking experience within the Nuclear Security Enterprise.
  • Active DOE Q Clearance.
  • Previous DOE experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review and check Creo 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, form, fit, and function.
  • Verify mechanical design definitions meet engineering requirements and intended design objectives.
  • Evaluate product definitions for manufacturability, producibility, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Perform GD&T evaluations and tolerance stack-up analyses.
  • Identify potential engineering defects and recommend design improvements.
  • Review mechanical designs to help reduce rejected products.
  • Verify compliance with current engineering design standards.
  • Apply mechanical design knowledge to support hardware fabrication, inspection, assembly, and testing.
  • Recommend improvements to mechanical design and checking processes.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD) to mechanical design and verification activities.
  • Review MBD models for compliance with applicable engineering standards and requirements.
  • Recommend MBD best practices and methods of improvement.
  • Ensure MBD processes maintain compliance with NNSA, LANL, and industry standards.
