About The Position

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to support the Lab Manager and cross-functional engineering teams by building, testing, and maintaining equipment, systems, and prototypes. You’ll take on hands-on technical work spanning prototype assembly, experimental test execution, troubleshooting, calibration, documentation, and general lab support. This is an on-the-floor role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, iterative development environment and enjoys solving practical problems with a “build it, test it, improve it” mindset.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or certificate in an engineering/technology discipline (or equivalent hands-on technical experience).
  • Strong hands-on technical ability in building, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and basic blueprint requirements; comfort using precision measurement tools.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication/documentation habits.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic environment, and changing priorities with a flexible, collaborative attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Build low-volume prototype assemblies across a broad range of product lifecycle milestones (early concepts through new product introduction).
  • Perform hands-on fabrication and integration (mechanical and electro-mechanical) to support engineering development and validation.
  • Rework or modify prototype components/systems to restore or improve functionality.
  • Conduct experiments and run test procedures; collect measurements and observations with attention to repeatability and safety.
  • Assist in refining/reworking test setups to streamline process implementation and/or improve data collection quality.
  • Troubleshoot test hardware, fixtures, and instrumentation; assist with root-cause investigations.
  • Set up, install, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose issues, perform repairs where appropriate, and coordinate with vendors when needed.
  • Maintain equipment readiness through preventative maintenance schedules and calibration records.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and compile test data; create lab reports and update logs/records.
  • Read and interpret drawings/blueprints; support inspection and quality-control checks.
  • Document build/test procedures, configurations, and results to ensure traceability and reproducibility.
  • Partner closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders (test, manufacturing, analysis) and occasionally external vendors/clients.
  • Support 5S / lab organization, continuous improvement activities, and flexible coverage across multiple projects and facilities as needed.
  • Cross-train with other technicians to increase team capability and equipment coverage.
