About The Position

LIGHTERA is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their division in Avon, CT. This role supports continued business growth and involves working on the 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM). The selected candidate will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment within the Glassworks department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • CNC operation experience, 2 years minimum.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with machine tools and gauges.
  • Troubleshooting equipment and process.
  • Knowledge of Metrology.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing.
  • Ability to work with tolerancing +/-.0001”.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Must be able to write procedures and read and understand complex manufacturing drawings/process layouts.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude, excellent organizational skills, leadership ability, and attention to detail.
  • Must be effective in time management and efficiently pass jobs through the work-flow.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Engineering discipline a plus.
  • Experience with machining of glass materials desired.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate equipment to drill and machine fiber optic preforms to print.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, including cleaning and maintaining coolant tanks and filters.
  • Execute tooling changeovers between different products.
  • Inspect the quality of work output against drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain a database of process and inspection results, and periodically review process stability.
  • Maintain an appropriate tooling inventory.
  • Operate multiple machines concurrently.
  • Maintain a safe work area.
  • Perform 6S and audit documentation.
  • Support production rod draw needs.
  • Complete material transactions in JDE for completed work and report scrap.
  • Identify machine-related issues requiring Engineering or Maintenance support.
  • Participate in the Total Preventative Maintenance program.
