About The Position

BlueScope is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Engineering Technician to support their engineering team in developing precise drawings and models for structural projects. This role involves translating engineering designs into accurate construction documents, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The Engineering Technician will perform detailing activities on assigned projects, adhering to schedule and accuracy requirements. They will create detailed drawings and fabrication plans based on engineering designs and project specifications, including erection drawings, approval drawings, permit drawings, and anchor rod layouts. The role also involves continuously developing technical expertise, improving knowledge of products, materials, and industry standards, and uploading, editing, and releasing parts into the manufacturing system for production. The Engineering Technician will collaborate closely with project teams to identify challenges, propose solutions, and ensure cost-effective, efficient project execution, while maintaining project schedules to meet customer needs and ensure high-quality service. They will contribute to department objectives, profitability goals, and continuous improvement as part of a high-performance team. BlueScope Buildings North America's Engineering department focuses on delivering safe, innovative, and high-quality structural and construction engineering solutions, prioritizing cost efficiency and supporting internal teams and external customers.

Requirements

Associate or 2-year technical degree or 2 additional years of relevant experience
Strong technical and communication skills
Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
Problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

Performs Detailing activities on assigned projects and adheres to schedule and accuracy requirements.
Prepare detailed drawings and fabrication plans based on engineering designs and project specifications.
Create erection drawings, approval drawings, permit drawings, and anchor rod layouts.
Continuously develop technical expertise and improve knowledge of products, materials, and industry standards.
Upload, edit, and release parts into the manufacturing system for production.
Work closely with project teams to identify challenges, propose solutions, and ensure cost-effective, efficient project execution.
Maintain project schedules to meet customer needs and ensure high-quality service.
Contribute to department objectives, profitability goals, and continuous improvement as part of a high-performance team.
