About The Position

Our Switching and Fusing location in Leeds, AL is looking for an Engineering Technician to join the team! You will work from solid models, technical drawings, engineering sketches, and other such documentation to produce a variety of production and prototype parts.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in a technical or engineering related course of study, or equivalent work experience may be considered
• Inventor or Solid Works 3-D modeling experience
• Programming, setting up, and running CNC Machines (or willing to learn this skill)
• Writing G-code
• Machine production level components, details and fixtures.
• Understanding of milling, 2D nesting, grinding, cutting, etc. and detailed functional knowledge of most common shop tools and machines
• Complete set-up work and operation of machines.
• Use precision measuring instruments to ensure that parts produced meet quality standards.
• Working understanding of metrology and the ability to use conventional machinist's measuring instruments
• Ability to perform calculations using geometry, trigonometry, algebra, and basic mathematics

Responsibilities

• Choose the most efficient methods of manufacture, understanding the time and equipment required, and interacting with technicians, designers and engineers to suggest design improvements for manufacturability/machinability.
• Program plate laser, drill line CNC and press brake machines.
• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes with a high degree of proficiency.
• Analyze and evaluate current programs and setups for efficiency, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
• Assist/support engineers with prove-outs and make suggestions to improve current processes as well as processes that are unproven
• Interface with other Engineering personnel and other applicable departments to ensure the proper design collaboration and prototype implementation.
• Fixture design and setup, work holding design, toolpath programming for CNC milling machines, CNC machine operation, and other manufacturing operations.
• Develop and maintain supportive, professional relationships with technicians, designers and engineers.
• Other duties as assigned my management.
