About The Position

Eaton’s PDCA Power Distribution Control Assembly division in El Paso is currently seeking an Engineering Technician. The Engineering technician is responsible for assisting production regarding assemblies through the application of diverse technical principles and practices. In this role, you will interpret all necessary mechanical and subassemblies drawings, including, but not limited to, 3-D models of standard parts/assembly details for complex manufacturing assemblies and interpret Bills of Materials for assemblies and subassemblies according to the available standard designs. Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year manufacturing experience OR a degree in a technical discipline
  • Ability to read engineering drawings (mechanical, electrical and schematics), understanding CAD and drafting principles.
  • Experience working with Electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • No relocation is provided for this position, only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the El Paso, TX facility will be considered.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-4 years of experience in an electrical manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, understanding CAD and drafting principles.
  • Comfortable in the use of engineering and productivity tools (CAD software, Office suite and AS400)
  • Experience working with electrical Switchgears, switchboards, or Motor Control Centers
  • Associate degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Examine 3-D models, and drawings using Autodesk Inventor or various other computer programs and software, relating to new and modified equipment specifications to assist during the manufacturing process.
  • Work with cross-functional development teams to ensure mechanical designs for products/assemblies are built to specifications as detailed in part drawings/models.
  • Check work to ensure confirmation to plant Quality Standards.
  • Working knowledge of standards applicable to assigned products (ANSI, NEMA, UL, CSA, etc.)
  • Analyze and interpret design standards requirements such as tolerance and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure all manufacturing details such as reference documents are easily understood and updated to determine the acceptance application, operating characteristics, or performance of components of the assemblies.
  • Prepare necessary information to ensure efficient and timely material procurement, manufacturing information, and installation of assemblies.
  • Review and understand product structure bills of material related to manufacturing process.
  • Maintain contact with manufacturing personnel to review and discuss manufacturing information, modifications, adjustments, and progress of work relating to the design and manufacture of equipment.
  • Provide support to Eaton Lean Systems, Eaton Quality Systems, MESH and Pro Launch to achieve and maintain required levels of certification and performance as needed from the engineering standpoint.
  • Supporting plant process changes via the Change Management Process.
