About The Position

ASRC Federal Systems Solutions, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, requires a highly motivated Mechanical Technician to support the ASTROS Contract as an Engineering Technician III. We are looking for someone with great mechanical aptitude, experience with general maintenance and equipment prep, and the ability to execute facility support tasks efficiently and safely. ASRC Federal is supporting cutting-edge propulsion systems research at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and we are looking for the best people to be a part of this team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of practical experience in general maintenance, mechanical assembly, or facility operations.
  • Dependable mechanical skills and comfort using standard shop hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, schematics, or layout prints.
  • Must place safety of self and others ahead of everything else. All support must be well thought out with safety in mind before starting.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to gain access to the customer’s computer networks.
  • Will be required to work Overtime or support different work shifts with little to no notice.
  • Will be required to work in the Mojave Desert. The weather outdoors can be extremely hot or extremely cold.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in extreme cold or excessive heat.
  • Must be licensed and able to drive a vehicle.
  • Must be able to work at either extreme heights or well below elevation.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate heavy or material handling equipment (e.g., Forklift, Crane, Hoist) is a plus.
  • Experience bending tubing, flaring lines, or fitting mechanical components is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of facility components, mechanical assembly, and layout prep.
  • Supports maintenance, repair, and modifications of laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
  • Assists with room layout preparation, removing legacy hardware, and coordinating basic mechanical setups.
  • Receives daily instructions, provides feedback, and completes work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to plan safety into every aspect of the work.
  • Prioritizes tasks effectively in a dynamic, constantly changing environment.
  • Wears assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Will be required to work overtime or work different shifts with little notice.
  • Must have great customer service skills, communicate job status clearly, and understand project deadlines.
