About The Position

Sensei Ag is a market-changing AgTech company focused on improving human nutrition through sustainable farming practices. The Engineering Technician position is an opportunity to join a team of talented collaborators in a dynamic facility. This role will be accountable for the safety, maintenance, and organization of the facility to support daily operational needs and R&D activities involving new hardware, robotic technologies, growing systems, and crops. This is a 5-day per week on-location position.

Requirements

  • Some post HS trade school or equivalent required, BA/BS a plus.
  • 8 years’ experience in a facilities maintenance role with demonstrated ability to work with limited direction and oversight
  • Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, agriculture related field a strong plus
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, work-order systems, equipment troubleshooting, vendors, contractors, and facility projects.
  • Experience with basic plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Experience managing complex projects
  • Resourceful and creative problem solver with extensive handyman skills
  • Self-motivated with an eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to navigate in a matrix organization and coordinate across cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems including email, and MS Suite, and the proven ability to learn new systems and technologies
  • Ability to work nights and weekends on call as needed.
  • Ability to work in greenhouse, production, warehouse, laboratory, office, and outdoor areas with variable temperature, humidity, noise, light, and exposure to water, soil, plant material, and approved agricultural inputs.
  • Valid driver’s license & Forklift Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in greenhouse operations, including control system operations, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Problem solve and troubleshoot with engineering teams for repairs, construction, commissioning and system upgrades
  • Hands on maintenance and repair including: plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting etc. for buildings, vehicles and machine/greenhouse grow systems
  • Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance and work-order program, including asset records, inspection schedules, critical spare-parts inventory, repair prioritization, and closure tracking.
  • Outdoor upkeep including but not limited to: sprinkler repair, external building maintenance, AC systems monitoring and maintenance, outdoor storage maintenance.
  • Source and coordinate equipment vendors, contractors, service providers as needed
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, sanitation, biosecurity, environmental integrity, and readiness for trials, tours, audits, and operational activities.
  • Support purchasing and keeping supplies ready in advance of activities on site including office supplies and equipment.
  • Support shipping and receiving, inventory control, material handling, visitor and contractor coordination, and other site activities as operational needs require.
  • Work with Corp Safety leader in support of facility safety activities
