Assignments may include, but are not limited to: rework of prototype PCB hardware, tracking and updating of prototype hardware configurations within an engineering laboratory, set up and running of data acquisition equipment for tests, carrying out experiments, troubleshooting, and reporting/documenting results of tests and measures. Key responsibilities/essential functions include: Test and rework prototype hardware consisting of complex surface mount devices. Soldering skill with surface mounted parts is a requirement. Must be able to competently perform rework including the creation of daughter cards, replacement of multiple types of IC’s (no BGA’s) and replacement of components down to 0402 size. Use basic test equipment (digital oscilloscopes, volt meters) and knowledge of electronics layout schematics to find and resolve root cause of PCB failures. Perform basic trouble shooting encompassing multiple variables and unknowns to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution. Conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required to draw conclusions. Manage the configuration of the hardware within a large number (20) of complex engineering prototype systems. Perform software and hardware evaluation and implement plans using knowledge of product, system operation, intermodular interactions, engineering tools, and interactive software tools as required. Utilize basic technical communications throughout the new product cycle to improve internal models and/or externally sourced components in terms of system performance, reliability, functionality, and serviceability. Provide strong individual contributions in the context of achieving team goals. General direction is given in the execution of job-related activities. Comply with EHS regulations and policies.
