Engineering Technician 5

Silfex•Springfield, OH

About The Position

The Engineering Technician supports, stabilizes, and optimizes CNC machining and automation-enabled manufacturing processes for silicon and other brittle materials. The role is a technical expert in CNC machining execution, equipment and automation performance, and process control, helping ensure safe, capable, and repeatable operations that meet dimensional, cosmetic, and throughput requirements. It emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, CNC machine and automation system support, process optimization, and sustained manufacturing performance rather than primary program development. The technician serves as a resource for CNC machining and associated automation systems within assigned value streams, supports manufacturing and process engineers, and leads problem-solving efforts related to defects, downtime, automation faults, scrap, and yield losses. The role also supports setup and operation of CNC machining centers, grinders, and auxiliary automated equipment; shop-floor execution; commissioning and recovery; process documentation and standardization; and collaboration across maintenance, manufacturing, controls, and engineering teams. The position requires a hands-on presence in a fast-paced, high-mix, automation-enabled production environment. The employee is expected to follow safety and PPE requirements, communicate respectfully and effectively, support lean manufacturing and 5S, and contribute to continuous improvement. Silfex describes itself as an inclusive and diverse workplace and an equal opportunity employer. It offers a comprehensive benefits package beginning on the first day of employment.
