About The Position

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician for their customer site in North Charleston, SC to support the US Navy. The role involves installing cable, mounting kits, and other equipment in the radio rooms of new construction submarines. The technician will work with others to prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment, as well as integrate and fabricate cables.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) with degree/formal training or seven (7) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings.
  • Four (4) years of practical experience in C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems.
  • Two (2) year of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Three (3) years of experience in task C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems, of which 2 must have been performed within the last 3 years.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a full Secret Clearance; Interim Secret required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Install cable, mounting kits and other equipment in radio rooms of new construction submarines.
  • Prepare design drawings.
  • Assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Integrate and fabricate cables.
  • Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
  • Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
  • Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data.
  • Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of presentation.
  • Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts.
  • Developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
  • Performing assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
  • Selecting or adapting standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents.
  • Receiving initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed.
  • Performing recurring work independently.
  • Installation of C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems.
  • Design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
