About The Position

Join us in pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably. Our inspiring and caring environment forms a global community that celebrates diversity and individuality. We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions. This role is for a highly proactive and skilled Engineering Technician to join our Product Development team. You will be a cornerstone in ensuring the technical integrity and performance of our prototype instrumentation through development and the critical design verification stage. This is a highly hands-on role that requires a strong blend of technical troubleshooting, meticulous documentation, and direct support for data generation.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related STEM field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably within a regulated Medical Device or IVD product development environment.
  • Proven, hands-on ability to diagnose and repair complex technical issues involving electromechanical systems, fluidics, and control electronics.
  • Expert use of test and measurement instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies) and precision hand tools.
  • Ability to accurately read, interpret, and work from technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated skills in mechanical assembly, basic wiring/soldering, and prototype modification (e.g., using 3D printing or light machining).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a persistent drive to pinpoint the root cause of failures, especially under tight project deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Exceptional focus on accuracy and consistency, crucial for data integrity and maintaining required regulatory documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interface with engineers, scientists, and quality assurance personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize urgent issues, and work effectively independently in a fast-paced R&D setting.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical resource for the ongoing maintenance, calibration, and advanced troubleshooting of prototype instrumentation.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve electromechanical, fluidic, and software integration issues to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure the prototype instruments used for critical data generation (e.g. Design Verification) are performing optimally, correctly configured, and fully operational.
  • Support system integration, sub-assembly, and modification of complex electromechanical, fluidic, and optical systems for R&D.
  • Execute test protocols, accurately collect, record, and organize test data, and assist engineers in the development and execution of V&V plans and test methods.
  • Maintain meticulous and complete laboratory records, including maintenance logs, configuration records, test data sheets, and work orders, ensuring all documentation adheres to our Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Identify recurring issues or inefficiencies in prototype performance and testing processes, and recommend practical, technical solutions or design modifications to the engineering team.
  • Ensure all lab activities, maintenance, and documentation comply with industry standards, specifically ISO 13485 and FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR).
