About The Position

The Engineering Technician supports assigned value stream(s) by executing hands-on manufacturing engineering support activities that ensure safe, stable, and repeatable production. This role focuses on sustaining process capability, responding to daily production needs, maintaining work instructions and technical documentation, supporting equipment and fixture changes, and assisting Manufacturing Engineers in troubleshooting, implementation, and continuous improvement. The Engineering Technician acts as a critical bridge between engineering intent and shop-floor execution, enabling Team Wendy to deliver high-quality head protection systems with consistency, efficiency, and urgency while upholding mission, security, and compliance requirements. To be successful as an Engineering Technician, you must execute hands-on builds, accurate testing and data collection work to support manufacturing engineering changes, validations, and daily production stability. You must follow prints, work instructions, and process windows with discipline while troubleshooting basic issues and escalating clearly with data. You must maintain strong 5S, preventive maintenance, and documentation rigor while supporting continuous improvement and kaizen activities. You must operate with urgency, precision, and accountability in direct partnership with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance.

Requirements

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Competent at intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Fluently read, write legibly, understand and communicate effectively in English.

  • Must know how to operate hand tools and power tools safely
  • Ability to safely and accurately operate various PLC controlled production equipment.
  • Ability to read and write and interpret technical reports and instructions.
  • Ability to file and maintain accurate records.
  • Requires mechanical dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Experience with building, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and assemblies.
  • Possess organizational and time management abilities
  • Demonstrate analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute hands on assembly, build, test, repair, and data collection activities to support manufacturing engineering changes, validations, and daily production issue resolution.
  • Assemble prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and test setups per approved prints and work instructions; support first article inspections and line trials.
  • Perform dimensional checks, basic metrology, and accurate data logging of yield, cycle time, and defects to enable fact based engineering decisions.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and minor corrective maintenance on production fixtures, tools, and test equipment to sustain process stability.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, and process issues on the shop floor; isolate faults and escalate with clear, concise technical information.
  • Audit and provide feedback and redlines to work instructions and checklists; propose practical improvements to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Maintain 5S standards and organization at workstations, labs, benches, and tool cribs to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Adjust processes within documented limits and initiate stop/hold or containment actions for safety or quality nonconformances per guidance.
