About The Position

As an Engineering Technician at Hellbender, you are the main point of contact for the engineering team, providing support to engineers from multiple disciplines and departments. You will be supporting the development and testing of products, prototypes, support equipment, as well as test environments with an emphasis on Electro-mechanical systems. This role requires technical expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in electromechanical systems and experience in debugging. Requirements

  • Experience working in R&D to production environments with an emphasis on transitioning designs to manufacturing
  • Experience fabricating and assembling mechanical prototypes and test fixtures
  • Experience with test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and current probes
  • Experience in the assembly of electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies
  • Maintain accurate documentation of integration and test activities, including test procedures, test results, and anomaly reports
  • Experience reworking PCBs with an emphasis on hand populating, re-work & modifications to first article PCBA’s per IPC guidelines
  • Ability to read and understand PCB schematics and wire assembly drawings / must also possess the ability to follow verbal instructions when little or no documentation exists
  • Ability to context switch from one task to another without losing focus
  • Team player, able to work collaboratively as well as independently
  • Self-starter, able to take initiative and manage time effectively
  • Experience with software such as SolidWorks, Altium, PuTTy, AI tools, etc.
  • Experience creating detailed work instructions from simple to higher top-level complex assemblies to assist product transition from R&D to production
  • Background in cable harness assemblies with a strong knowledge of a wide range of crimps and crimping tools ranging from 16~30 AWG wire

Nice To Haves

  • Background with machine shop responsibilities from operating basic tools to 3D printers, laser cutters, manual vertical milling, and horizontal lathes is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build, diagnose, and repair PCBs and wire assemblies
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance to other departments when requested and offer recommendations on how to improve design robustness
  • Creates assembly documentation, test procedures, and work instructions
  • Builds/Modifies test stations to support development initiatives
  • Provides technical support cross functionally across the company as needed often prioritizing and self managing projects to completion
  • Support the assembly, bring-up, testing and debug of new and existing PCBAs, subassemblies, prototypes, and products
  • Support the optimization of existing hardware-software platforms through systematic and inclusive problem resolution
  • Performs complex system level troubleshooting to component level on electro-mechanical devices and equipment
  • Research opportunities to improve the engineering team's in-house capabilities and turnaround (e.g. re-work stations, new equipment, etc.)
  • Partner with engineering staff, facilities, and procurement agents to identify and order needed tools, equipment, supplies, and PPE
