About The Position

Our Moog Industrial Group in Christiansburg, Virginia is seeking a motivated Engineering Technician to support our Data Center Cooling focused design engineering team. Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, you will tackle important hands-on tasks—wiring control panels, collecting and analyzing data, calibrating instruments, soldering, and more—working closely with design engineering to develop, execute, and document qualification testing of prototype and pre-production designs. We’ll train you to expand your skill set, so we expect you to arrive with one or more key technical competencies and a passion for learning the rest.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Industrial Controls, or related engineering discipline. Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, Ability to perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on test equipment, Instrumentation design or setup, PLC programming, Basic data analysis or scripting (Python, MATLAB), Oscilloscope operation and signal measurements, Soldering and PCB assembly, Familiarity with industrial controls and panel wiring, Experience with data-logging hardware/software, Report writing and documentation best practices, Calibration standards and practices (ISO, ASTM, etc.), Ability to use personal computer and typical MS Office applications
  • Assist in training/cross-training of others

Responsibilities

  • Assist in test setup, execution, and documentation: Identify and order parts/tools, Wire industrial panels, Connect instrumentation, Configure PLCs or test rigs, Execute predefined procedures under direction, Archive results
  • Data collection & reporting: Use oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and software (e.g., Python scripts or LabVIEW routines) to capture test data. Prepare concise reports summarizing results.
  • Calibration & maintenance: Perform routine calibration on sensors, meters, and test fixtures. Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools.
  • Prototype assembly & soldering: Assemble and solder PCB components or wiring harnesses to support rapid prototyping tasks.
