About The Position

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. (SEWS) is seeking an Engineering Technician (Lead level) for their Farmington Hills, Michigan facility. This on-site role involves leading wire harness rework activities with a cross-functional team including SEWS technicians, SEWS EDS engineers, customer personnel, third parties, and the El Paso, Texas Customer Service Center rework team. The position also entails taking on additional responsibilities for vehicle testing and troubleshooting, managing third-party rework teams to ensure quality, and providing engineering support for major issues or stop builds impacting all Mexico manufacturing locations. The role requires good communication, time management, and interpersonal skills to support daily activities and customer requests. The technician will participate in cross-functional team meetings and document/track reworks, as well as support pre-production and production build phases for harness reworks or repairs at customer facilities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Background and experience in wire harness or automotive DC electrical troubleshooting and repair.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Travel required.

Nice To Haves

• Mechanic certification a plus or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead harness reworks with SEWS technicians, SEWS EDS engineers, customer personnel, 3rd parties, and /or El Paso, Texas Customer Service Center rework team.
