About The Position

First Division Consulting (FirstDiv) is seeking a highly experienced Engineering Technician VI to provide expert-level technical support for the integration, maintenance, repair, and modernization of United States Marine Corps (USMC) communication systems and equipment. This senior technician will lead or support advanced engineering tasks, including the development, configuration, and troubleshooting of complex communication architectures. The ideal candidate will also contribute to the creation and refinement of technical documentation and provide hands-on technical support in both field and shop environments. This role requires a deep understanding of MIL-STD practices, vehicle integration, and USMC tactical communication platforms.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.
  • 12 years with degree/formal training or 14 years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Secret Clearance Required.
  • Ability to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
  • Close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.

Nice To Haves

  • Operational knowledge of USMC voice and data modes of communication to include UHF, VHF, HF, SATCOM, SINCGARS, ANW2.
  • Operational knowledge of the USMC Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV).
  • Experience with configuring, operating, and troubleshooting USMC voice and data radios and vehicular radio configurations, specifically: RT-2034C, AN/VRC-138 RT-2060.
  • Experience with configuring, operating, and troubleshooting Harris RF-7800i Inter Communications Set (ICS).
  • Experience with configuration, operating, and troubleshooting the Joint Battle Command - Platform (JBC-P) / Mounted Family of Computer Systems (MFoCS).
  • Attended MIL-STD-2003 training and IPC 620 Certified.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly proficient MIL-STD cable fabrication, including assembling/soldering communications cabling, RF cabling, power, networking, and other multi-conductor cabling.
  • Read and understand technical documentation, cable assembly drawings, and schematics for complex or multi-system architectures.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot a variety of current fielded USMC communications systems.
  • Perform tasks related to electrical systems, circuits, and related codes.
  • Apply strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and fixing electrical issues.
  • Utilize working knowledge of tactical communications best practices for vehicle integration, including grounding/bonding, cable management, component installation/removal, electrical safety, and system troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of technical documentation, including Modification Instructions (MIs), Technical Instructions (TIs), Technical Manuals (TMs), Component Parts List / SL-3 Bill of Materials (BOM), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Safely operate shop hand tools and power tools.
  • Adhere to electrical safety practices and regulations.
  • Operate RF test equipment for maintenance and troubleshooting, including insulation tester resistance meter (Megger) and multi-meter.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, supervisors, and other team members.
  • Lift, climb, and work in confined spaces, demonstrating physical fitness and dexterity.
