About The Position

North Wind Services (NWS) is seeking individuals to support national security within science, technology, and engineering fields as part of their supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. This position is located in the Laser Systems Engineering Operations (LSEO) Division within the Engineering Directorate and supports projects within the Light Matter and Fusion (LMF) directorate, which houses the world’s largest and most energetic laser facility ever built, the National Ignition Facility (NIF). The NIF is the most precise and reproducible laser and the largest optical instrument, with nearly 40,000 optics that precisely guide, reflect, amplify, and focus 192 laser beams onto a fusion target. The Laser Systems Engineering Operations Division has an opening for an Engineering Technician V Optical/Mechanical Technician to support mechanical assemblies. The successful candidate must be able to work in a low-level radiologically contaminated, clean room environment and handle large, high-value optics and optical assemblies. The position may require flexibility to work overtime, shifts, or weekends to accomplish goals, and may involve working alternate schedules such as 4/10s or 12-hour shifts. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules. The position is in Livermore, CA, and successful candidates will be employees of NWS supporting the missions of their federal client, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).
