About The Position

The Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) is a U.S. Navy facility operated by Leidos. NATSC provides repair, refurbishment, upgrades, and testing for Navy towed sonar arrays that support submarine and surface ship operations. Leidos supports production engineering, logistics, and technical services to keep these systems mission-ready for the U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales customers. The successful candidates will be repair/production technicians on towed array repair lines of the Navy Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport. Technicians assigned to specific array product lines or the Hose & Tow Cable Fabrication Shop and will either evaluate and troubleshoot failed module assemblies to the component level and perform repairs, manufacture array module hose assemblies and/or tow cables in accordance with formal work instructions, using conformed materials, and with high standards of quality.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • High school/vocational school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Must have at least an Interim Secret Clearence to start
  • Proficiency with standard computer operations and Microsoft Office products.
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience in electrical or electronic systems
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Electronic repair at the component level (including copper and fiber optic signal paths)
  • Manufacturing hose assemblies for towed sonar array modules
  • Preparing and terminating sonar array tow cables
  • Ability to follow formal work instructions and documented quality standards

Nice To Haves

  • Soldering and/or fiber-optic termination certification or training
  • Experience working with industrial or production equipment, including: Module hosing/de-hosing equipment
  • Pressure, tension, and handling test systems
  • Automated or semi-automated electronic test equipment
  • Measuring, grinding, mechanical swaging, and cable connector molding
  • Cable pressure testing equipment

Responsibilities

  • Repair and troubleshoot failed sonar array modules down to the component level
  • Extensive troubleshooting of complex towed sonar circuits
  • Capable of managing independent workstreams with minimal supervision, while actively supporting broader team goals
  • Manufacture array module hose assemblies and/or tow cables using approved work instructions
  • Perform work using approved materials and quality standards
  • Conduct electrical, mechanical, and functional testing using established procedures
  • Operate test equipment, record results, and report any issues or defects
  • Assemble or construct standard equipment or parts following written instructions
  • Perform basic servicing or repair of equipment or instruments
  • Extract and record engineering or test data using defined methods
  • Follow standard work methods for routine tasks and receive guidance for new or unfamiliar work
  • Maintains precise, up to date, and audit ready project/ operational documentation in accordance with Company/ Department standards
  • Support training and mentoring of junior technicians as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
