About The Position

Entegris is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their Electro-Mechanical and Instrumentation Engineering team within the Advanced Purity Solutions division at their Bloomington, MN facility. This role supports engineering lab activities focused on product development, prototype assembly, test execution, diagnostics, and documentation for electro-mechanical systems used in advanced technology applications. The technician will collaborate with engineers to conduct lab testing, assemble and modify prototypes, document test results, troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues, and support product evaluations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong knowledge of electrical controls, practical wiring capability, disciplined documentation habits, and comfort using software tools and electrical monitoring equipment. The position offers flexible hours (9 AM-3 PM, Monday-Friday) with potential for remote work and requires travel between Chaska and Bloomington facilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical, electro-mechanical, automation, controls, instrumentation, or related technical field.
  • Relevant experience working in an engineering lab, product development, manufacturing engineering, testing, maintenance, automation, or electro-mechanical troubleshooting environment.
  • Strong hands-on ability to wire, assemble, modify, and troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems using schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, work instructions, and engineering direction.
  • Working knowledge of sensors, switches, relays, actuators, motors, power supplies, control panels, PLC or embedded controller interfaces, and basic control logic.
  • Ability to conduct electrical diagnostics and measurements safely and accurately using common electrical tests and monitoring equipment.
  • Experience using software-based tools for equipment operation, test monitoring, data logging, diagnostics, or analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, bills of material, test procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize multiple lab activities, and collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional team members.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement in a hands-on engineering lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering lab testing on electro-mechanical assemblies, components, and prototype equipment in accordance with engineering direction, test plans, and safety requirements.
  • Document test setup procedures, observations, data, and results in a clear technical way using approved documentation systems.
  • Assemble, wire, modify, and troubleshoot prototype electro-mechanical assemblies, including harnesses, sensors, and test fixtures.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics using appropriate tools and equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and related monitoring equipment.
  • Support engineering investigations by identifying abnormal operating conditions and communicating findings to engineers.
  • Operate and monitor lab equipment and software tools used for testing, data collection, controls operation, and equipment performance evaluation.
  • Provide hands-on support for prototype builds and design verification testing.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant lab environment, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout practices where applicable, electrical safety practices, and housekeeping standards.
  • Support development and improvement of lab procedures, test methods, wiring practices, equipment setup instructions, and technician work instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and operations teams to support new product development, sustaining engineering, and continuous improvement activities.
