About The Position

Radial Solutions Inc. (RSi) is seeking an Engineering Technician III to support the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support (METTS) contract for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. This role is within the Structural Strength Test Branch, providing crucial technical support to engineers. The position may require occasional overtime and could involve second or third shift support to meet 24/7 onsite or on-call needs. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Practical knowledge of science or engineering
  • Practical knowledge of mathematics
  • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or High School diploma and/or 3 years equivalent technical experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems for personal computers and MS Office products
  • Experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, and bridge cranes
  • Good communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship
  • Experience reading and understanding specifications and detailed work instructions

Responsibilities

  • Assembling space flight test articles.
  • Following specific instructions to assemble or construct simple or standard equipment or parts.
  • Servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment.
  • Performing routine maintenance, installation/integration of various types of mechanical and instrumentation components such as strain gauges, pressure transducers, thermocouples, load cells, hydraulic actuators, tubing, etc.
  • Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
  • Extracting engineering data from various prescribed but nonstandardized sources, processing the data using elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form.
  • Instrumentation applications, data collection and analysis, network maintenance, electrical assembly, soldering, crimping, fabricating various types of cables/connectors.
  • Assisting with specialized handling, transportation, and operation of one-of-a-kind test articles and associated components.
  • Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures, as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data.
  • Interfacing directly with MSFC customers, technicians, and other test team members.
