At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department. This role involves performing fabrication, installation, and operational support of instrumentation systems and wiring harnesses on various aircraft and test articles. Specific duties include supporting the VX-20 team with preflight and post-flight operations for E2D and P-8 platforms, flight test pods, and ground support equipment. The technician will wire various instrumentation packages and platforms according to AID processes and procedures. They will also assist instrumentation operations engineers in maintaining, installing, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting F-35, E2D, and P-8 instrumentation systems. This includes supporting on-aircraft ground testing, performing instrumentation pre-flights, post-flights, and test flight support, which involves handling data cartridges. Some travel to other test facilities and carriers may be required. Work will also be performed in the Instrumentation Lab for troubleshooting and system checkout. Adherence to specific policies regarding Foreign Object Debris (FOD), tool control, and all facets of security (physical, AIS, document control, COMSEC, OPSEC) is mandatory, along with quality assurance inspections.
