About The Position

MSA is hiring a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Public Works team in St. Paul! The Public Works team supports a wide variety of civil engineering projects, ranging from roads, parks/trails, water/sewer, utilities, and more. In this role, you will assist with construction observation, contractor relationships, and design. This is primarily a field-based role. MSA specializes in the sustainable development of communities and is proud to be 100% employee owned. Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology (or related field) required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • 2+ years of related experience required
  • This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction observation and field inspection services for public works and municipal infrastructure projects, including streets, utilities, stormwater, and site improvements.
  • Coordinate daily with contractors, municipal staff, utility representatives, and project managers to support successful project delivery in the field.
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify construction activities comply with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Document project progress through daily reports, photographs, quantity tracking, and field measurements.
  • Assist with construction staking verification, material testing coordination, and resolution of field issues during construction.
  • Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance on construction inspection procedures and documentation standards.
