About The Position

Engineering Technician I supports equipment maintenance and production activities by assisting with basic preventive maintenance tasks, following detailed instructions, and learning troubleshooting techniques. The role involves working closely with experienced technicians and engineers in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or two-year technical degree preferred, or Trade Certification and relevant experience (typically +2 years), or Equivalent applied relevant experience (typically 3+ years).
  • Typically less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
  • Foundational communication skills (written and verbal) to interact with team members.
  • Foundational math skills for recording data accurately.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
  • Must be familiar with Quality Assurance Protocols (QAP) such as Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ)

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD tools (such as SolidWorks) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work within ISO 13485 and 9001:2000 regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and track scrap rates across various manufacturing processes and departments.
  • Attend DMM meetings to report identified scrap trends.
  • Interpret data sets and provide actionable insights to the team.
  • Prepare regular summaries, updates, and projected timelines on scrap-related metrics and progress.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to develop and implement strategies for reducing scrap.
  • Identify and evaluate potential solutions, including process changes, equipment upgrades, and training programs.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at minimizing waste and enhancing efficiency.
  • Assess current manufacturing processes to pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvements and adjust as needed.
  • Provide training and support to production on scrap reduction techniques and best practices.
  • Conduct a physical inspection of the production areas.
  • Note any visible issues or deviations that might contribute to scrap.
  • Check equipment and processes for anything out of the norm.
  • Develop action plans to address identified issues.
  • Communicate with relevant teams to ensure proper implementation of solutions.
  • Log and monitor contributors in the Teams Daily report spreadsheet
