About The Position

This position performs technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in areas such as construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, materials sampling, erosion control inspection, and construction traffic control audits on assigned projects. Work functions may include inspection for compliance and/or code; collection and analysis of field data; testing of materials; reviewing and interpreting design plans; and analysis of engineering related data and/or product data. Duties may also include construction layout, measuring, staking, marking, and clearing brush. This position will perform other related duties as required. This position must establish and maintain positive lines of communication between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public. The applicant should be able to effectively communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.

Requirements

  • Close visual acuity to use testing instruments, to read plan details, to make accurate field measurements and to inspect roadway and structure components.
  • Ability to safely work high above ground.
  • Proficiency in record keeping.
  • Proficiency in engineering testing equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Safety-toed shoes required.
  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and skill in the use of computer equipment, iPad and software.
  • Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
  • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
  • Experience in customer service related to resolving problems that involves explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups.
  • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.

Responsibilities
