About The Position

The Cell QA Engineering Technician I supports the evaluation and analysis of suspect or defective lithium-ion battery cells using specialized equipment and computerized systems. This position performs established testing and analysis procedures, conducts quality checks, identifies defects, documents results, and supports basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. Working with guidance, the Technician I develops technical knowledge of Cell QA analysis processes, equipment, quality requirements, and battery products while escalating abnormal or unresolved findings to appropriate team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–3 years of related technical, quality, laboratory, manufacturing, equipment, or analytical experience.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret measurements, graphs, specifications, and technical information.
  • Ability to learn and safely operate specialized analysis and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to perform assigned technical activities with guidance and follow established procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational Certificate or Associates Degree preferred or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery manufacturing or battery quality processes.
  • Experience with testing, inspection, measurement, laboratory, or analytical equipment.
  • Exposure to SEM/EDS, Nano CT, Ion-Miller, microscopy, imaging, or similar analytical technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform established analysis and testing of suspect or defective lithium-ion battery cells under guidance.
  • Operate analysis equipment and software, including SEM/EDS, Nano CT, Ion-Miller (Cross Sectional MC), and other applicable tools following established procedures.
  • Perform analysis of the physical and chemical properties of battery cells.
  • Identify defects, abnormalities, and nonconforming conditions during analysis.
  • Document analysis results accurately and prepare technical reports using established formats.
  • Perform product and production process quality checks against established specifications.
  • Monitor data from measuring devices and identify results outside established requirements.
  • Support basic troubleshooting of analysis equipment, testing, and process-related issues and escalate unresolved concerns.
  • Assemble and disassemble equipment as required within established procedures.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and cleaning activities within assigned scope.
  • Create work orders or instructions as needed under established processes.
  • Collect, handle, and prepare qualifying products or samples for shipment as required.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and work procedures and properly use required PPE.
  • Communicate defects, equipment concerns, and abnormal analysis results to appropriate team members.
  • Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance.
  • Follow LGESMI cleaning SOPs during downtime, including cleaning designated equipment and surrounding work areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned
