About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking an Engineering Tech I to join the Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Indianapolis, IN. This role offers a career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek-PSI is a provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction, with services including construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing. The Engineering Technician is responsible for performing materials testing and inspection services for commercial construction projects, focusing on concrete and soil testing during placement and earthwork phases. Some laboratory testing on concrete and soil will also be required. The position involves travel to project sites, typically day trips, with occasional short-term overnight travel possible.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Entry level position, no prior experience is required
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required.
• Applicant should be physically able to work outdoors and maneuver a wheelbarrow of concrete several times during the course of a day.

Nice To Haves

• BS Degree in an engineering field
• 1+ years of experience
• Engineering background through education is preferred but not required.
• Other certifications, such as: ACI, NICET, or INDOT are also welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling and field testing of concrete, soils, and asphalt during construction activities.
• Prepare written reports summarizing test results and corresponding action items.
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and the design team to report findings, schedule testing, and provide recommendations.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings and online safety training courses.
• Pick up test samples that were either previously cast or stockpiled for sampling.
