About The Position

Intertek is seeking an Engineering Technician I to join their Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Indianapolis, IN. This role offers a career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek-PSI provides construction assurance, testing, and inspection services in civil and commercial construction, including construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing. The Engineering Technician will perform materials testing and inspection for commercial construction projects, focusing on concrete and soil testing during placement and earthwork phases. Some laboratory testing on concrete and soil will also be required. The position involves travel to project sites, with occasional short-term overnight travel.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
• Physically able to work outdoors and maneuver a wheelbarrow of concrete several times during the course of a day.

Nice To Haves

• Engineering background through education
• ACI, NICET, or INDOT certifications

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling and field testing of concrete, soils, and asphalt during construction activities.
• Prepare written reports summarizing test results and corresponding action items.
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and the design team to report findings, schedule testing, and provide recommendations.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings and online safety training courses.
• Pick up test samples that were either previously cast or stockpiled for sampling.
