About The Position

This is a hands-on manufacturing position and requires technicians knowledgeable in aerospace assembly and high-reliability procedures. Supporting activities will include support of space structures Subassembly manufacturing and Single Line Flow integration. This role involves individual contributor effort with limited supervision in manufacturing and integrating deployable mesh reflectors. Technicians will be responsible for following engineering drawings and processes, performing mechanical assembly and test of space hardware, system level hardware integration, preparation for and conducting system level hardware testing (deployments, vibe, etc.), performing system level alignments to meet system requirements, and field support for spacecraft integration and precision alignments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in assembly, test, manufacturing, or related field.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance and work in a classified area.
  • Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years of experience with manufacturing space qualified hardware.
  • Hi-Reliability, Bonding, and Aerial Platform certifications.
  • Experience working with hand and torque tools / measurement tools (Micrometers/Calipers)
  • Sewing.
  • Ability to see small parts with or without magnification assistance.
  • Experience mixing and application of two-part adhesives and RTVs.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Be a team player, pro-active, and customer oriented with a sense of urgency to accomplish a given task or goal.
  • Possess a high level of initiative and willingness to learn.
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support of space structures Subassembly manufacturing and Single Line Flow integration.
  • Individual contributor effort with limited supervision manufacturing and integrating deployable mesh reflectors.
  • Ability to measure using multiple types of measurement tools i.e. tape measure, calipers, and inclinometer.
  • Following engineering drawings and processes.
  • Mechanical assembly and test of space hardware.
  • System level hardware integration.
  • Preparation for and conducting system level hardware testing (deployments, vibe, etc.).
  • Performing system level alignments to meet system requirements.
  • Field support for spacecraft integration and precision alignments.
  • Working for extended periods (2-hour durations) while performing work above shoulder level or while in a lying position.
  • Move equipment weighing 45 pounds or less from one place to another.
  • Work performed at elevated heights (up to 30 feet).
  • Repetitive movements during specified durations.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to handle and manufacture space hardware.
  • Ability to utilize a ladder multiple times per shift.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and provide feedback on assembly drawings, BOMs, engineering change orders, process control instructions, and detailed work instructions.
  • Interpret and follow moderately complex sketches, schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
