About The Position

This role involves testing, diagnosing, repairing, configuring, and performing preventative maintenance on network equipment, telecommunications equipment, and/or computers that support FAA’s FTI, ADS-B, MFN-2, and DCNS networks. The technician will manage configuration, software, and licensing changes for various networking and telecommunications equipment, including Cisco and Juniper devices. Responsibilities also include operating and testing with electronic test equipment, terminating and building cable connectors, maintaining records in database systems, ensuring a safe and clean work environment, and interpreting technical documents. The role requires the ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and obtain a FAA Public Trust Clearance or a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Test, diagnose, repair, configure, and perform preventative maintenance on network equipment, telecommunications equipment, and/or computers supporting FAA’s FTI, ADS-B, MFN-2, and DCNS networks.
  • Manage configuration, software, and licensing changes for Cisco, Juniper, and various other networking and telecommunications equipment.
  • Operate and test with various electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, RF generators, VIAVI 5800, and Tempo Datascout.
  • Terminate and build cable connectors (RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25) and replacements as needed.
  • Maintain records of repairs, changes, and updates in homegrown database systems.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment using principles of 5S.
  • Read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Safely lift up to 50 pounds (22.67 kg).
  • Obtain a FAA Public Trust Clearance or a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
