About The Position

This is a contract to permanent position in Aery Aviation's Engineering Department. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician with strong technical writing skills and a background in aerospace or aviation. This role combines hands-on technical support (testing, troubleshooting, assembly, inspections) with authoring and maintaining clear, standards-driven technical documentation used for certification, maintenance, test procedures, and internal engineering communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, technical diploma, or equivalent technical certification in Aerospace Engineering Technology, Avionics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years experience as an engineering technician in aerospace, aviation, or avionics environment.
  • Demonstrated technical writing experience producing procedures, test reports, and maintenance documentation in a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, AS9100, DO-178/DO-254, ATA iSpec 2200 or equivalent).
  • Hands-on skills with mechanical assembly, wiring/harnesses, soldering, bench testing, and use of common test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, torque tools, calipers).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document control tools (e.g., SharePoint, Windchill, Teamcenter, PDM/PLM).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under schedule and regulatory constraints.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting certification efforts or audits.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture, basic circuit troubleshooting, and avionics systems (comm/navigation, flight control, sensors).
  • Knowledge of configuration management and revision control best practices.
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one (if required).
  • Experience with authoring tools (MadCap Flare, FrameMaker, or similar) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on technical activities: assembly, wiring, bench testing, functional verification, calibration, and inspection of aerospace/aviation components and subsystems.
  • Support test campaigns: set up test rigs, instrument systems, gather and analyze data, log results, and maintain test hardware.
  • Create, edit, and maintain technical documents including: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Test procedures and test reports, Maintenance instructions and work cards, Engineering change notices (ECNs), Installation and troubleshooting guides, Materials and process (M&P) documentation.
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory and quality system requirements (FAA/EASA/DO-178/DO-254/AS9100 as applicable).
  • Translate engineering specifications and test results into clear, concise, and structured content for technicians, engineers, and auditors.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and product teams to capture accurate technical content and implement revisions.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and write technical summaries and corrective action reports.
  • Maintain test equipment calibration records, inventory of spares, and lab safety compliance.
  • Support certification documentation and audits by preparing and organizing evidence, test artifacts, and controlled documents.
