This role provides technical support to engineers and trades on a variety of technical tasks. The primary focus is on gathering, maintaining, formatting, compiling, and manipulating technical data related to paint coatings, including coating records and metrics. The position involves performing detailed reviews of critically coated paint records against applicable technical documents such as NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32, Drawings, Procedures, Inspection Reports, ASTM-F718’s, and Manufacturer product data sheets. The role also includes performing audits, assisting with problem resolution for CAR responses, and identifying and communicating deficiencies within paint records to ensure all administrative and technical issues are adjudicated. The technician will navigate the electronic paint record database (E4749), interpret paint schedules, IR’s, Quality Assurance Instructions, and Standard Shipbuilding Work Instructions, and identify technical deficiencies like cure time, HI DFT, and high mills. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential for daily interaction with SOST, Trades, and Engineering to communicate and rectify deficiencies. The role requires utilizing SAP and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) to generate reports for management, trades, engineering, and SOS, outlining current status and potential issues that may delay key events. Assistance will be provided to Sup Ship and Trades to help certify/close critically coated E4749 paint records.
