About The Position

Northrop Grumman’s Armament Systems Division is seeking an Engineering Technician 2 in Elk River, Minnesota. The role supports testing and development of advanced munitions and energetic systems for defense and aerospace missions. The technician works with medium- to high-complexity systems in a munitions test environment, supporting cannon-caliber gun systems, environmental test setups, and other energetic tests. The position also partners with engineers on early-stage electrical and mechanical designs, supports customer contracts through international travel as needed, and requires careful attention to safety, quality, data accuracy, and repeatability. Travel is approximately 10% of the time. Relocation assistance is not available, and no clearance is required to start.

Requirements

• A two-year electronics or mechanical degree from a trade school, or equivalent technical training.
• At least 2 years of experience in electrical and/or mechanical testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High electrical and/or mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency with computer-based tools and applications.
• Ability to work hands-on, solve problems, and thrive in a dynamic test environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform test operations on energetic and/or munition systems independently and as part of a team.
• Operate and support tests on cannon-caliber gun systems, environmental test setups, and a variety of energetic tests.
• Follow detailed operating procedures and collect and record test data accurately and consistently.
• Partner with engineers to develop electrical and mechanical designs during early-stage development programs.
• Collaborate with engineers, Production Control, and test personnel.
• Support customer contracts through international travel as needed.
• Manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
