About The Position

Engineer Technicians play a critical role in translating engineering requirements into executable technical documentation and production support solutions. These positions interface daily with engineering, planning, quality, and deckplate operations to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality ship construction and overhaul. Develop and revise technical work documents for multiple disciplines. Primarily office with occasional visits to shipyard and production areas. Must be able to wear required PPE and comply with shipyard safety procedures when in industrial areas. Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 1 years of relevant experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ship design or marine structures, particularly within military or commercial shipbuilding environments.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, structural, electrical, or piping systems in ship design.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Working computer skills and experience using computer-based software
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions, drawings, processes, and procedures
  • Experience with research, design, and general problem-solving
  • Certificate/course completion with working knowledge and experience in AutoCAD, Inventor, NX, or similar 2D/3D design software
  • Experience with U.S. Navy systems and design requirements is preferred
