About The Position

The Engineering Tech 1 supports the design and development of Lancer products with hands-on prototyping and testing. This role works closely with project teams to ensure prototype and evaluation work is effective and efficient.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with manufacturing practices
  • Proficiency in one or more fabrication skills: Refrigeration – Certified Technician a plus, Sheet Metal Forming (including welding and grinding), Wood Fabrication, Metal Machining / CNC, 3D Printing / Additive manufacturing, General Manufacturing Assembly, Electronic Controls / Automation / Instrumentation / Programming
  • The ability to create simple block diagrams for mechanical and electrical applications
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring tools
  • The ability to operate a forklift and become certified is required
  • The ability to self-manage is required: Organize time to best support multiple initiatives with quickly changing priority, Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or laboratory environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Technician (Refrigeration)
  • Previous forklift experience a plus
  • Some 3D CAD modeling experience is a plus, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Best Practices (5S, TPM) is a plus
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills in a team environment
  • 2-Year Technical Degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Engineering Project Teams in planning and executing prototype builds, including: Ordering and organizing materials, Fabricating and assembling prototypes, Evaluating prototypes for manufacturability, performance, and organizing the feedback to the Engineering Project Teams
  • Operate and maintain prototyping equipment which may include 3D Printers, SLA machines, CNC metal cutting, manual mills/lathes and a variety of power and hand tools.
  • Develop and fabricate fixturing, tooling, and other equipment to improve department prototyping processes.
  • Support the overall department in maintaining cleanliness, organizing and dispositioning of inventory, following and promoting safe practices in the prototyping area.
