About The Position

Under general direction, performs a variety of duties including preventive maintenance, inspection, service, repair, overhaul and general maintenance of equipment, plant equipment and facilities of the hospital; and to do other work as required. This position requires some weekends/holidays.

Requirements

Post high school vocation with specialized training.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance or considerable experience in one or more trades such as plumbing, electrical, pipe fitting, HVAC or closely related.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.
Must maintain a driving record which meets the insurability requirements of PHH, Inc.
Must be licensed in one or more trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.), Journeyman’s Certificate or Healthcare Mechanic Certification is acceptable or a minimum of three (3) years verifiable experience through employment history in one of the above trades.
Knowledge of testing instruments on electrical lighting, emergency generators, alarm systems, communication system, and medical equipment and HVAC system.
Knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
Knowledge of basic mathematics and report writing.
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Performs preventive maintenance, inspection, service, repair, overhaul and general maintenance of equipment, plant equipment and facilities of the hospital.
Tests, repairs, installs, and replaces electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.
Operates refrigeration, cooling, and air conditioning systems and equipment.
Keeps abreast of developments in the field of expertise.
Prepares necessary reports and records.
