Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 4 or more years of relevant experience, or 6 or more years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
  • Knowledge of construction, operations, or engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of complex field test equipment.
  • Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for specific discipline installations or service.
  • Relevant education/experience includes experience in a military role (transmission, distribution, gas, power systems, etc.), project management, journey-level electrician or gas technician, field operations, or other utility-related experience, as deemed relevant to the role.
  • Relevant educational experience includes company-sponsored training programs (e.g., PowerUp Academy) or other educational programs, as deemed relevant to the role.
  • The equivalent relevant education/experience requirement is in addition to the position's minimum experience requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and performs engineering assignments associated with critical engineering projects or a number of small projects with many complex features requiring extensive company experience, potentially including leading employees or contractors in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Performs assignments in areas where engineering precedents are incomplete, lacking, or require broad experience.
  • Evaluates, develops, and implements projects that have significant financial and operational impact.
  • May serve as an expert for the organization in a specific area or responsibility, which may include delivering classroom instruction/training and/or On-the-Job Training/On-the-Job Experience.
  • Performs assignments independently and may lead multi-discipline teams.
  • Provides recommendations and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Participates in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in areas of company interest.
  • Leads complex technical efforts and mentors junior staff in the development of studies, specifications, and performance evaluations for utility infrastructure.
  • Drives integrated systems analysis and budget planning for major projects.
  • Provides strategic recommendations based on in-depth evaluations of systems and processes.
  • Oversees financial analysis and ensures alignment with project objectives.
  • Facilitates collaboration across departments to resolve challenges and optimize outcomes.
  • May include leading design reviews, coordinating with external contractors, validating engineering calculations, managing project documentation workflows, and developing cost-benefit analyses.
  • May require extended hours during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
