About The Position

Stan AI is seeking an Engineering Team Lead to lead a full-stack team. This role is a player-coach position where you will write code alongside your team of 2-3 engineers, while also providing leadership. You will be responsible for running sprints, mentoring engineers, driving architectural decisions, and contributing to hiring. The role offers direct influence over engineering practices, including the adoption of AI in workflows, and has a direct line to engineering leadership. The team works on AI-powered software for property managers, automating operations, streamlining tenant communications, and enabling smarter decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • At least 1-2 years in a tech lead or senior lead capacity.
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills with Node.js and TypeScript on both frontend and backend.
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers, even informally.
  • Track record of owning features end-to-end, from architecture through to production.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical decisions to both engineers and non-engineers.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment where priorities can shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building AI-powered features or integrating LLMs into production applications.
  • Hands-on experience with AI developer tools like Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor.
  • Experience with property management, real estate, or adjacent B2B SaaS.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
  • Experience participating in hiring processes, including interviews, take-homes, and calibration.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical direction for your squad, including architecture decisions, code quality standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Drive full-stack feature development in Node.js / TypeScript across web and API layers.
  • Set the standard for code reviews, ensuring they are thorough, constructive, and educational.
  • Proactively identify and address technical debt, balancing development velocity with long-term maintainability.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering on broader platform and architecture decisions.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 2-3 full-stack engineers.
  • Manage sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives to keep the team focused and unblocked.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and provide meaningful feedback to aid engineer development.
  • Participate actively in the hiring process, including sourcing, interviewing, and closing candidates.
  • Foster a culture of psychological safety, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Partner with product and design teams to translate requirements into well-scoped technical work.
  • Provide engineering feasibility and quality perspectives, pushing back on scope when necessary.
  • Contribute ideas and insights to product strategy, not just execution.
  • Participate in roadmap discussions and identify opportunities for technical innovation.
  • Champion the adoption of AI tooling within the team, such as Claude Code, to enhance code generation, test writing, documentation, and code review.
  • Drive a culture where AI accelerates team output.
  • Stay updated on AI tooling and provide recommendations to engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate on integrating LLM capabilities into the product.
  • Own the team's delivery, including estimates, commitments, and follow-through.
  • Surface risks early and communicate blockers clearly to engineering leadership.
  • Help define and refine engineering processes as the team scales.
  • Contribute to on-call and incident response practices.
