About The Position

GrayMatter is looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join their team. This position will focus on managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The position requires above average attention to details, concern for the exact correctness of work, and strong commitment to tasks completed on time. The person in this position will take work seriously, has a strong sense of duty, and is disciplined. The position will generally be task oriented, requiring someone with a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable Engineering field or Associates Degree with 4 years’ experience.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of applicable working experience in industrial automation field in addition to degree
  • Experience with industrial application programming languages
  • Experience with industrial software platforms (i.e. GE iFix, Historian, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet GrayMatter standards and expectations in engineering and professional services
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team
  • Excellent level of general computer technology knowledge, from MS Office Suite to TCP/IP configurations and more.
  • Strong programming and engineering skill set
  • Excellent problem-solving ability- the ability to take an unstructured task and give structure to solve the problem at hand.
  • Strong ability to research
  • Advanced understanding of SCADA, HMI, PLC and/or MES hardware and software design

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of specific GrayMatter working experience or with GrayMatter product suite
  • Complete Advanced training or on-the-job training equivalent based on skills matrix.
  • Complete appropriate management and leadership training courses

Responsibilities

  • Perform GrayMatter billable services as required for application specific development within GrayMatter standards
  • Using specialized skills, knowledge and experience and exercising discretion and independent judgement to perform duties associated with software programming, coding, configuration for the GrayMatter suite of products, and hardware configuration and setup for the GrayMatter suite of products
  • Act as lead in project development and planning
  • Perform onsite pilots, testing and product demonstrations
  • Perform services consistent with project scope – identify keys areas where change orders are necessary
  • Complete required internal and external project documentation to standards
  • Provide technical support to the customer base via phone, email, etc.
  • Support professional services and sales team to ensure consistent outstanding customer service
  • Sales support functions: Regularly network and look to develop a positive GrayMatter presence with clients – inform team of potential new opportunities
  • Assist with development sales funnel by attending assigned sales meetings to perform product updates, demos, and workshops
  • Participate in assigned marketing activities such as trade shows, seminars, etc.
  • Work w/ sales team to assist in providing Bill of Materials, or product solutions for customer identified needs
  • Work w/ sales team as needed to create product and solution demo(s)
  • Lead architecting system design and layout, design and discovery functions (internal and customer facing design)
  • Perform onsite technical/troubleshooting services for the GrayMatter portfolio of products
  • Assist in proposal generation
  • Create reusable code and templates for efficiency purposes, and create other repeatable methods to shorten development
  • Identify opportunities to improve the process for collaboration – both internal and external (w/ clients)
  • Assist with project management duties. This position should be able to manage their own work independently and help coordinate others when needed.
  • Serve as mentor and coach for assigned team members
  • Performance management of team – goal setting, reviews, coaching, etc.
  • Regular check-ins with each team member, at least on a weekly basis
  • Lead team to meet individual, department, and company-wide goals
  • Responsible for maintaining utilization for assigned team members
  • Define bench projects (when billable work is not available) for team members that meet the intersection of GrayMatter business needs and the team member’s personal development goals.
  • Assist in developing and introducing new processes and standards to increase efficiency and output of team
  • Assist project management team in scheduling resources, particularly for individuals on assigned teams.
  • Communicate and assist in correcting team member issues with support from management & HR.
