About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an Engineering Support Specialist to join our Manufacturing Test Infrastructure team in Pullman, Washington. We design, build, maintain, and support the test stations, fixtures, and cable assemblies used throughout SEL manufacturing facilities to ensure every product meets our high standards for quality and reliability. Engineering Support Specialists support Manufacturing Test Infrastructure. In this hands-on technical role, you'll build, deliver, maintain, and troubleshoot test stations, fixtures, and cable systems while partnering with Manufacturing and Engineering teams.

  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, and perform standard manufacturing and testing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Building test stations, fixtures, and cable assemblies—routing, terminating, and soldering wire and cable with an emphasis on neatness, correctness, and care.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and mechanical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain production test systems and infrastructure to support manufacturing operations.
  • Support engineering teams in implementing solutions that increase product quality and reliability.
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and records.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Support continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and World Class Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Follow department processes and quality standards while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering teams and cross-functional partners regarding project status and technical issues.
  • Apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing principles in daily work.
