About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor is a working leader responsible for coordinating daily workload, ensuring preventive maintenance and life-safety tasks are completed, and mentoring the team to deliver safe, efficient, and guest-ready operations. This role balances hands-on repairs with scheduling, inspections, vendor coordination, and training. Key responsibilities include assigning and following up on work orders, executing preventive maintenance for guestrooms and equipment, and minimizing out-of-order rooms through troubleshooting. The supervisor leads routine tests and inspections for life-safety systems, maintains safety documentation, and supports pool/spa operations. They are also involved in people leadership, training engineers, assisting with scheduling and performance input, and supporting on-call rotations and after-hours response. Additionally, the supervisor coordinates small capital/R&M projects, manages vendors and inventory, monitors utilities for energy conservation, and administers CMMS for task management and asset records. Cross-departmental partnership with Housekeeping, Front Office, Events, and Food & Beverage is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years in hotel/resort or commercial building maintenance
  • Previous lead/senior technician experience required
  • Strong hands-on proficiency across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry/paint, and general building systems
  • Able to read schematics/blueprints
  • Working knowledge of life-safety systems, code compliance, and pool/spa operations
  • Comfortable with CMMS, BMS/controls, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
  • Stand/walk for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Assign, prioritize, and follow up on work orders; verify quality and timely closure.
  • Execute and ensure completion of guestroom/equipment PMs (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pumps, boilers/water heaters, lighting, laundry, kitchen).
  • Minimize rooms/out-of-order through root-cause troubleshooting and post-repair inspections.
  • Lead routine tests/inspections (fire alarm/sprinkler, emergency lights, generator, elevators in coordination with vendors).
  • Maintain safety documentation: LOTO, PPE, SDS, permits, and incident reports; enforce OSHA/EPA, brand, and local code compliance.
  • Support pool/spa water chemistry, logs, and CPO standards.
  • Open/close department; conduct pre-shift huddles; distribute radios/keys; verify tool/shop readiness.
  • Train engineers on troubleshooting, PM best practices, guest interaction, and safety; provide real-time coaching and feedback.
  • Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and performance input; support on-call rotation and after-hours response.
  • Coordinate small capital/R&M projects and room return-to-service timelines; ensure scope, quality, and closeout docs.
  • Escort and supervise contractors; validate work, parts, and safety compliance.
  • Keep shops and mechanical spaces organized; maintain accurate parts inventory and assist with monthly counts.
  • Monitor utilities; recommend conservation measures (set points, controls, LED, leak prevention).
  • Support water management, storm readiness, and seasonal maintenance plans.
  • Administer CMMS (e.g., HotSOS/Quore): create/assign/close tasks, manage PM calendars, and keep asset records current.
  • Provide daily handoff notes and weekly metrics (PM completion, OOO rooms, recurring defects); communicate outages and project impacts to leaders and departments.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping and Front Office on room readiness and service recovery.
  • Support Events/F&B with equipment needs and rapid response during peak periods.
