Job Summary: As a "department of one," the Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the hands-on maintenance, safety, and physical integrity of the property. You are the primary technician and strategist for the building’s historic infrastructure, ensuring the guest journey is never interrupted by mechanical failures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hotel maintenance experience; previous experience in a boutique or historic property is highly preferred.
  • General knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Ability to use computer systems to track work orders.
  • Competent in written and verbal English communication to document logs and coordinate with other departments.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods, climb ladders, and lift/move heavy equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including being available for urgent repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all physical maintenance and repairs in guestrooms, public spaces, and "behind-the-scenes" machinery (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
  • Actively manage the "Out-of-Order" (OOO) room list, communicating daily with Guest Services and Housekeeping to return rooms to inventory as quickly as possible.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) cycles on guestrooms and building systems to ensure longevity.
  • Coordinate with the GM to ensure property coverage, particularly during high-occupancy periods or "on-call" emergency needs.
  • Manage personal daily repair schedules to prioritize guest-facing issues over back-of-house projects.
  • Conduct regular physical counts of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
  • Identify necessary parts for repairs and prepare supply requisitions for GM approval to ensure the hotel remains in a state of complete readiness.
  • Ensure the property complies with all safety and hotel standards, identifying and correcting hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Complete work orders for all repairs and maintain a detailed department logbook for historical tracking.
