About The Position

Westlake Pipe & Fittings, a Westlake company, is seeking a 12-Month Engineering Student Co-Op for their Woodbridge, ON Pipe manufacturing Plant. This co-op offers students exposure to all aspects of process engineering and plant operations. The role involves participating in the company's safety culture, working on design and operation improvement projects with plant leadership, supporting new product and equipment launches, creating and improving plant processes, and performing data analysis. The co-op will also involve leading continuous improvement initiatives, interacting with vendors for part design and reliability, and sourcing alternative vendors to optimize cost and design. Utilization of new technologies to drive plant modernization is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

2nd year or above enrolled in an accredited Engineering program
Transcript must be included with all resume submission.

Nice To Haves

Programming & AutoCAD experience preferred

Responsibilities

Participation in company’s safety culture up to and including gap analysis and equipment introduction for hazard elimination
Work closely Plant Superintendents, Operations Manager and Process Engineer on various design and operation improvement projects
Liaise with NPD (New Product Development), material scientist and plant team to support new product and equipment launches
Create and improve plant processes to promote proactive decision making
Participate in the creation and approval of SOP's & OPL’s
Perform data analysis for both past and future projections
Lead cross functional teams for continuous improvement initiatives
Interact with vendors such as machine shops for part designing and reliability improvements
Source alternative vendors and suppliers to optimize part cost and design
Utilize new technologies to drive plant modernization
