About The Position

In this position, you will be responsible for leading QOS (Quality Operating System) initiatives within the production department. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of stamping and manufacturing processes for current and new-model parts, balancing quality, cost, timing, manufacturability, and production requirements. You will review part data, CAD, engineering specifications, and production information to identify feasibility, tooling, dimensional, and process concerns, develop action plans, and recommend effective engineering solutions. You will support the complete tooling lifecycle, including part feasibility, die design, construction, machining, tryout, buyoff, launch, and production support, while working closely with Tool & Die, Automation, Quality, Machining, MP&L, and production teams. You will lead and support PFMEA, SCAAF, quality-loop, and launch reviews, ensuring process risks are identified and addressed before tooling and production launches. You will serve as a key engineering contact for production team leaders and supervisors, coordinating with Machining, Quality, MP&L, Tool & Die, Automation, and other departments to resolve manufacturing and quality issues. You will review rejected parts for quality integrity, determine appropriate disposition and next steps, and maintain accurate traceability records and quality documentation for future reference. You will manage and communicate quality performance through FTT, 8D, Scrap, Dock Holds, Dock Audits, Incoming Quality, and other standard plant reports, providing timely information for quality reviews. You will lead cross-functional quality initiatives focused on No Fault Forward and Zero Defects, utilizing structured problem-solving and continuous-improvement methods to eliminate recurring issues. You will lead 8D investigations for Warranty and Vehicle Operations concerns, partnering with Quality, MP&L, T&D, Production, and other stakeholders to establish containment, root cause, corrective action, and prevention. You will apply Six Sigma methodologies to manufacturing and quality problems, supporting projects that improve process capability, reduce variation, eliminate defects, and deliver measurable cost savings. You will utilize statistical process control, statistical analysis, PP/PPK, measurement systems analysis, and variable-data analysis to monitor process performance, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions. You will establish and monitor quality targets and critical characteristics for each build and provide engineering input into product, design, and assembly concepts that minimize variation and improve manufacturing capability. You will apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to interpret engineering requirements, establish locators and measurement points, verify tolerances, and support effective dimensional-control strategies. You will manage measurement systems for components and assemblies; interpret inspection data and ensure appropriate calibration, certification, repeatability, and reproducibility. You will utilize CATIA, Teamcenter/VisMock-Up, SMIRT, CM4D/CM4Di, AutoForm/FEA, Argus, and other engineering systems to investigate tooling, product, dimensional, and forming issues and develop data-driven solutions. You will apply forming-limit analysis and Argus results to evaluate material behavior and optimize stamping processes, while coordinating material trials, lubricant testing, thickness changes, and other process evaluations. You will manage engineering changes, Tool Change Notices, Tool Change Orders, Sheet 3 changes, and related releases, evaluating technical feasibility, tooling requirements, cost, timing, and production impact. You will support plant launches, insourcing/outsourcing evaluations, line-load optimization, tooling transfers, die adaptations, and production changes, ensuring engineering requirements and quality targets are achieved. You will drive continuous improvement through benchmarking, innovation, new technology implementation, workforce development, and data-driven process optimization, while maintaining strong communication across plant, engineering, supplier, and customer organizations.
